Three of our members attended the 7th International Conference on Information Technology and Application (ICITA 2011) last week in Sydney, Australia. Mike presented his paper titled Image Quality, Performance, and Classification – the Impact of Finger Location and Kevin presented his work on The Impact of Gender on Image Quality, Henry Classifications, and Performance on a Fingerprint Recognition System. Dr. Elliott worked as a co-author on both of these publications.

The conference is an annual event and is recognized as one of the major series of conferences in information technology (IT). Guests attended from Japan, Australia, China, United States, Korea, Malaysia, Germany, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Brazil, Czech Republic and Canada. The purpose of ICITA is to provide a platform of academic and engineers in all IT areas to meet, exchange ideas, and establish professional networks. It is a forum to focus on specific disciplinary research, as well as on multi-disciplinary studies. The uniqueness of ICITA is that it crosses narrowly defines subject areas and gathers researchers from not only technical areas, but also from areas in social sciences.

ICITA continues to retain its tradition of high quality conferences and opened up an opportunity for academics and industrial professionals worldwide to exchange their knowledge of the state-of-the-art research and development in information technology and applications.
