BC2011

Although no one wanted to come back, obliged by class, we left the 91 degree days of Tampa behind to return to the wonderful Indiana weather. The 2011 Biometrics Consortium was an incredible sight. In one day, we experienced a multitude of speeches, presentations, and product demos that gave us a lot to consider. A common theme was that more people are still needed to work on the various grants and standards being presented, a refreshing thought for anyone new to the program. Companies were looking to hire and minds were looking to brainstorm at this convention of identity fanatics.

The days begin with keynote speakers and informative presentations but are followed by the floor exhibits which were amazing. Companies from around the world had booths set up trying to hire, consult, or inform people of all the things going on in the Biometric community.

We encountered many companies that we work directly with through the lab. It was very cool to see booths set up for companies like Crossmatch or DigitalPersona, manufacturers who’s sensors we have used time and time again.

Companies were very informative and loved to hear from us. It was also fun to see how they all recognized Purdue even if we didn’t own their technologies. The day was a great success and we all look forward to hopefully going again.
