Implementation of Hand Geometry in Recreation Sports Center
The BSPA Lab partnered with Recognition Systems, the Dean of Students Office, and the Division of Rec Sports to demonstrate the feasibility of implementing hand recognition system in a live operational environment. The operational system was evaluated by the student population at Purdue University by registering them on the hand recognition device and then authenticating them on their subsequent visits to the Recreation Sports Center. Following the evaluation of Recognition Systems’ hand geometry readers at the Recreational Sports Center during the spring 2005 semester, students’ reactions and performance were promising. During the 2005-06 school year, feedback was gathered from students on how they like using the device and evaluate the performance of the hand geometry system.
The purpose of the study was to determine:
-
How students & faculty interact with the device
-
Perceptions of students & faculty of hand geometry vs. the current ID system
-
Performance of the hand geometry system
